If you walk in China or Vietnam,
Maybe you find people who play a board game.
Asian Board games
That is called Xiang-Qi.
Roots are Indian game Caturanga. yep, it goes to Europe, that is Chess.
Going to China and Vietnam, that is Xiang-Qi.
Going to even east, in Japan, that is Shougi.
The different points are…
Caturanga rolls dice, when your turn.
Xiang-Qi have river between each positions.(little different China’s and Vietnam’s)
Shougi can take opponent’s piece.
However, caturanga is nearly distinct in India.
(But the game is very interesting and simple.)
Xiang-Qi(Not shang-Chi) and Shougi are popular in each country.
But these days, Japanese plays in their house or the shougi room, shougi salon in the city.
Chinese and Vietnamese plays on street. I think one of the reasons is their road is broader than Japans.
If you are good at playing chess, I recommend to learn the rule, and ask to join in them 😀
Pieces moving rules are nearly same. So, not so hard to learn.
